This may have been the first week in the history of my preschool where I wasn’t encouraging my students to keep their hands to themselves. You see, we are learning about our 5 senses and we are on our sense of touch. So please touch all the things! Well, you still have to ask your classmates first. Those rules still apply. But let’s see how many things we can feel and how we can experience our world through touch.
During circle time I had paper bags (prepared ahead of time) with objects and encouraged the children to guess what was inside using only their sense of touch. Watch this:
At centers I thought bristle blocks and foam puzzles would be the most fun to touch.
Literally anything would work in the sensory table. I chose rainbow rice and rainbow noodles.
And in the Art Center I had finger paint and ink pads for fingerprints. As you can see below my students still opted for paint brushes. That is perfectly fine with me. My goal is never to make the kiddos uncomfortable or resistant to the activities. After all, they are still using their sense of touch right?
Here are the books we read:

Enjoy!
